Watching that news bit on Aaj Tak yesterday where they went on like a broken record about how Mandira Bedi had insulted the Indian flag because the tricolour on her saree happened to be below the knees, I couldn't help thinking what a petty-minded nation we've become. Apparently according to the constitution, wearing the triclour waist down is considered a dishonour to the flag. I say thank God it wasn't covering her crotch or they'd have accused her of crossing the Line of Control.
And why were they after poor Mandira in the first place, when the real blame lies with that idiot (not to mention atrociously bad) designer Satya Paul. But the media in our country cannot resist a soft target, can they?
A sad irony that the men who wear the tricolour on the sleeves couldn't give a rats ass about the nation they're playing for.

I've just been listening to some tracks by this dude (and fellow Goan) named Warren Mendonca. Good stuff ... nothing too complicated. Calls himself BlackStratBlues (I like it!). You can download the whole album here. It's called Nights in Shining Karma ... I notice a very distinctive Gary Moore influence.
This one for Bunny ... not sure if you're still reading, but you should know I think of you often. Gary Moore ... Still got the Blues!

Just for info..
Warren is the lead guitarist of the band Zero. Check out their stuff, or you must have already :)
btw, Warren's last name is Mendonsa. I hear he's in Mumbai currently. He's doing a gig on the 4th.
I'm always around, Bluesy.

Still love this song ... its awesome :)
i agree! ...
and have you heard the appy cricket song that comes on radio? it's quite a hoot!
totally agree with those guys, she should have appeared without the sari, or at least after she noticed the stuff, she should've removed it on national tv.. but do you think it was designed with non qualifiers appearing at the bottom? ;).. meanwhile drop in at my blog for some fourplay :)
Befuddles me as to why the issue was with the knee ! Weak knee ?!
Kind of below the belt !!
Quite true, all this apparent "respect for the tricolour" never shows when the yellers are faced with the prospect of doing anything productive.
The Sainiks burnt her effigy in Indore, and a million idiots had a million idiot things to say it.
Makes you wonder: Don't these people have jobs to do or something?
"Nights in Shining Karma" love that title!
yeah that definitely sounds a bit like Gary Moore would play guitar.
what happened to the "peace, love,..." signatures?
Hey! Thanks for the link...the album is VERY GOOD! :-)
:-) it was fun reading you after so long salty :)
effigies, controversial sarees, the tricolour...we sure do have a lot of things to quibble about. good fun.
Apparently, there was a huge protest carried out in Indore over the Buddha statue in Rakhi Sawant's bathroom which she happened to give us a guided tour of on a so-called news channel.
News these days just thrives on sensationalism, am just so sick of it!
