O.K. Been a while since I last clicked on 'new post'. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
First up - I was watching the news yesterday and those images of the Twin Towers crumbling to the ground brought back memories of how horrified we all were to see that live on TV 5 years ago; without doubt the most shocking thing I've ever seen on the news. And all those people jumping to their deaths and others running for their lives. There is nothing more frightening than running for your life, where you don't know what will hit you from behind ... or above in this case.

Must say I was quite amused to hear about Amity University's decision to ask its students to dump the jeans and the t-shirts and go formal - a drastic move for an institution that is perceived as being liberal and new-age. But I think it's aimed more at the women than at the men. That's why I laughed when I heard the chancellor of Amity say it was an effort to inculcate "corporate culture" among its students at an early stage. I'm sure what he actually wanted to say is: 'this was the only way to stop the girls from showing everybody their underwear!'
But if he thinks he's going to succeed, boy is he wrong! Because I for one have noticed that these days even the humble salwaar-khameez has gotten to be pretty revealing ... the slits at the side go so high up, you not only see the girls undies, you also get a good view of her flunge*! And pants are no better. Why do women's pants have to look like bludy stockings? Because in most cases VPL** can be quite a hideous sight. It's okay if you have a nice slim bottom, but if you have what looks like a sack of potatoes.... you get my drift.
You see, the difference between women and men is that women dress to get noticed ... men dress to, well - get dressed! So anything you make them wear, women are always gonna come up with ways to distinguish themselves from others of their sex. And quite often they end up being over-creative.
Of course there are men too who display womanish tendencies. And since society does not take kindly to men going about like women, many of them do the next best thing -- become fashion designers!

Spent most of my Sunday watching old episodes of Steve 'croc hunter' Irvin on Animal Planet. I totally loved the guy. The last time I felt so sad on hearing about someone's death was when Princess Di went for a ride with that scoundrel Dodi and never came back.
And imagine a bloke like him getting killed by a bludy fish - someone who's taken on crocodiles that could have swallowed him alive! It's a tragedy, I tell you. But knowing Steve, I bet his last words were, 'now that's a killer, mate!'

Just read this article on IBN Online. All you Orkutters better beware.
Peace, love, and less nasty surprises.

lol@sack of potatoes...
I like the explicit way of your outright candour.Truth does sounds harsh.
Lingerie show is quite a rage among today's gals. Victoria Secret can surely make money in India if they think on economies of scale.
But some gals do go overboard and that is when it seems obscene.
After all, beef tastes good when half done.

but even PL is not as well defined as it was before.. depending on how low waist the jeans are, the line has a variable location, anywhere between the hip and the knees..
*in all innocence* is that what they call lowering of standards, SwB? ;)
there r many for whom even the guys say - "why don't she cover herself up". now they will be saved of the sight of that bulging tummy!
nothing's true
nothing's right
..and there comes a time when there's noone left to fight...
how do u pen down such beautiful thoughts..?
its so simple and beautiful......
kya re, why getting me hitched so soon?!? anyways, my resolve to hit the roads in a car remains steadfast, never mind your jibe ;)
be it low-rise jeans or revealing salwar-kameez!!! ...this race of "getting noticed" is going out of hand.....
hmmm....they better leave them alone.....and I'm sure the trend of wearing fully-covered clothes will come back some day again...may be for the sake of 'getting noticed' :-)
skin-show is something 'u can't live with it, can't live w/o it'. So why don't men just make hay while the sun shines??? after all winter is just round the corner and then no dame wud have the guts to flaunt her assets even if she's 'too hot' for winter.

Whoever said Amity was liberal or reputed? Theyre the biggest bunch of frauds whose ONLY purpose is to milk their students and they have so much money that they make sure that they never get negative publicyt. I don't know how IBN managed to do such a story.
...and omg, you have annotations on your blog!
whats worse probably is that not much calm has settled over the chaos in these five years.
Haha... I agree. VPLs are quite unsightly. If only more women wore thongs. But Amity might find that Wrong, too. :P
And I think women or men, both dressed to get noticed. Depends on who's in heat, when. Steve Irvin would've been able to shed better light on it. :)
Pleiades
just to add, it has happened to a very close friend of mine.....
she rejected a guy and he made a new profile and put up her pic and what's worse...he wrote scraps to all he male friends asking to sleep with her!
heylo's and howdy's,

Wearing formals to university. That is by far the most ridiculous thing I have heard!
Same thoughts in Steve Irwin, what a good man he was...
MySpace and Orkut are both social networkin sites. NEone who thought Orkut was any better was obviously an idiot. At least MySpace has all the musicians and better features.
just added you one orkut.. now u better beware :)
and really, anything online is scary.
The most shocking thing you have seen on T.V !!!! Probably you are selectively blind, Forgot the bombings in Japan, the killings in Vietnam, Chile, Palestine, Iraq & now in Lebonon. 9/11 was nothing compared to what they have done & is doing to the rest of the world. The media made you a dummy by making you believe as if it was the most shocking thing to have happened.
VPLs are UGH!! Orkut is scary! But hey, welcome back after that long break! :)
Of course there are men too who display womanish tendencies. And since society does not take kindly to men going about like women, many of them do the next best thing -- become fashion designers!
I just saw the pic of Rohit Verma in today's Bombay Times and thought of this statement by you! nice post :)
Oh yes! Irwin was a true Hero! In the real sense!
Yep, it was a shocker to learn about Steve Irvin - but you know what - he died doing what he loved the most - being with nature, taking risk. I am sure not many people are that lucky.
